Favorite 2017 Publications

December 28, 2017

So this list is a little different from my Top Ten Reads of 2017 in that these are my favorite NEW publication of 2017. Some seriously amazing books came out this year, and I definitely want to give some of these a special shout-out! So here goes . . .

#1 Air and Ash - Alex Lidell

This swashbuckling sea adventure by Alex Lidell was so great, I had to immediately grab the equally awesome sequel, War and Wind. And you can bet I'm first in line for upcoming book 3, Sea and Sand!

#2 Namesake - Kate Stradling

This amazing adventure gave me some old school Robin McKinley feels . . . but it was completely unique at the same time. I now plan to pick up and read every Kate Stradling book I can get my hands on, and I'm recommending her to everyone.

#3 Thick as Thieves - Megan Whalen Turner

Any time a new Megan Whalen Turner book launches, it's an event in my world. Even though this book was not my favorite of her work, it will nevertheless be a treasured part of my collection, re-read every time I get the urge to revisit the Queen's Thief series.

  #4 Moonburner - Claire Luana

I'm cheating a little bit, since I think this book launched last year. But this gorgeous new edition came out this year, and it's such a great book! Epic adventure, an Asian flare to the worldbuilding, a strong female-lead cast . . . this book was brilliant!

   #5 Caraval - Stephanie Garber

My reader friends either loved or hated this book . . . but I definitely loved it! So magical, so mysterious, so romantic. Stephanie Garber is a poet with her prose, and I drank in every word.

    #6 Biome - Ryan Galloway

This book was an edge-of-your-seat, unpredictable sci-fi adventure, and I could not put it down! I'm kind of desperate for a sequel, here. This author is one I'll be watching like a hawk for new releases.

#7 Waters of Salt and Sin - Alisha Klapheke

A romantic fantasy set in a thrilling ancient world. The heroine, Kinneret, was one of my favorites of the whole year, and I loved the magic that breathed through every page of this tale.

#8 The Songweaver's Vow - Laura Vanarendonk Baugh

This book wove together classic Norse Mythology with the myth of Cupid and Psyche to create a beautiful, romantic tale. Gorgeous writing and captivating characters made this a standout read.

#9 Strange the Dreamer - Laini Taylor

I’ve already talked about how much I loved this new release. It made it into my Top Ten Reads of 2017. But I have to feature it again here, because it deserves all the features.

#10 One Dark Throne - Kendare Blake

And last of all, yet another book that I featured in my Top Ten Reads of 2017. This amazing sequel to Three Dark Crowns was absolutely stunning, and I am recommending this series to everyone!

And there you have it! My favorite new releases of 2017. This was a good year for books, wasn’t it? Many of these have sequels due in 2018, so I’ve got a great year of reading ahead of me too!
